The Government paper “Keeping Children Safe in Education” states that:

‘Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.’

Everyone employed at North Ridge Community School has a responsibility in terms of child protection and we understand that every child has the right to feel safe and protected at all times and in any situation. We accept that we have a primary responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of the pupils in our charge, and we will carry out this duty through our teaching and learning, extracurricular activities, pastoral care and extended activities.

We hope that both parents and children will feel free to talk about any concerns and will see school as a safe place to discuss any difficulties.

CEOP

North Ridge Community School recognises the importance of keeping safe online, whether on social media, games, other accessible Apps and on the World Wide Web.

We have a CEOP Ambassador on site to help staff to recognise the signs and support students, to support students to recognise when they are not safe, know how to keep safe and report to an adult any concerns, to support families in being more prepared for the changing world of modern day internet safety and to help you all stay Safe Online.

In school we teach our students the importance of recognising when they feel unsafe online and to use the CEOP link to report this. This symbol is clearly displayed around school.
